Services
Individual Care Services was formed in 1991, the decision to become a social care provider was made after the government of the day announced the NHS and Community Care Act.
This NHS & Community Care Act marked an historical shift in the way people with learning disabilities were to be viewed and treated within society. People with learning disabilities were finally being given the opportunity to use their voice, the opportunity to live within the community and to make their own decisions. For almost 3 decades ICS has supported adults with learning disabilities, many of whom have successfully made the transition from living in institutional settings to living in their own homes.
Over the years ICS, our support workers, managers and Trustees have not lost sight of our core values, which have remained unchanged for over 25 years, ICS is committed to supporting and encouraging adults with learning disabilities to be as independent as possible, to live fulfilling and rewarding lives, and to be able to exercise the same rights non-disabled people often take for granted. ICS values people’s right to be treated as equals, to make their own choices and to ensure they can enjoy the freedoms of citizenship.
